The Eagles had been on the road with their Long Road Out Of Eden tour for nearly three years by the time they finally brought it to Australia. |
I am glad I saw the show three times in London in 2008, because by late 2010 they were showing some weariness and had dropped some of the new songs, which was a shame. Even the best live song from the new album, "Somebody", was performed at the Sydney show I saw but then dropped from the rest of the tour. Instead they opted for more of the older classics, to please the nostalgic audiences and perhaps in response to the fussy critics. |
|
"Waiting In The Weeds" is the most beautiful haunting song in the Eagles' repertoire but despite the Long Road Out Of Eden album going to number one in Australia, it seemed the audiences were not as familiar with that song (disc 1 track 7) as they should have been. |
|
But the voices were still great, the musicianship perfect, the lighting beautiful and the staging with spectacular and entertaining screen projections was as great as they had been in London, with some timely updates where deemed necessary. |
And hey, for our outrageous ticket price we got a groovy tote bag, notebook, a Long Road Out Of Eden CD (like, did they think we didn't already have it?) and drink voucher! I think the cushion from 2004 was a better deal, but what can you do?
I went to the third show at the Sydney Entertainment Centre, and the first at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre, with a seat in the 2nd and 4th row respectively, good views for photo taking. I've organised the photos here by song (as accurately as I can remember), as I did on my London page, mixing the Sydney and Brisbane shows together. The boys had ditched the handsome suits that they started the tour with, and their wardrobe is pretty limited to daggy shirts for the most part, but you will be able to tell which were taken in Sydney and which were Brisbane photos by Don Henley's hefty beard (Sydney) or the lack of it (Brisbane).
